SAVE OUR FLORIDA STATE PARKS


Last week, we learned of proposals to amend NINE of our Florida state parks that would be devastating. A leaked memo outlined the plans to develop golf courses, hotels, pickleball courts, and more on sensitive habitats at some of our most beloved state parks.

Thanks to everyone who has been writing letters, calling, protesting, sharing these issues and showing their love and support for keeping Florida Wild. For now all meetings have been postponed and Ron Desantis has announced that these plans were “half-baked” and not ready to be released to the public.

While meetings have been postponed, Public Comment has been extended. If you haven’t already filled out the Official Great Outdoors Initiative Survey, make sure to fill it out for each State Park in question and let them know your opinion and ideas. Together we can all make a difference for our beautiful state!

We are committed to helping our planet any way we can, one small step at a time. All of this trash was collected while we were out for an adventure or just a short walk sometimes, but no matter where we are we ALWAYS find bits of trash, from microplastics to gigantic fishing nets.

We make a point to leave every place we go looking better than we found it, and challenge all of you to do the same. Adopting this lifestyle can help save our planet!

OUR STORY

We are Alex Tabone and Serena Bass, aka Squatch & Siren. We are a small Florida lifestyle brand with a passion for adventure. The “Squatch” represents all of our land based adventures in the forests, swamps, sandhills, and more, while the “Siren” represents all of our aquatic based adventures in the ocean, rivers, creeks, and springs.

When we created Squatch & Siren, we set out to create a brand that represents our adventurous lifestlye and shows our commitment to the planet. We are both lifelong nature lovers and aqua-holics, so it was only natural to become guides. In 2018 we started offering guided paddles and offering mermaid classes, but quickly realized that we had so much more to offer our followers.

We now use our reach to help the environment by creating content about important issues happening in our state and on our planet, doing regular trash cleanups, still offer mermaid classes that focus on caring for our planet, and have created an eco-friendly clothing & artwork line based on all of our adventures throughout the beautiful state of Florida.
